Interviewing for a job can be a very stressful event for some, however, there are tons of information out there that if categorized into do’s and don’ts, can help create a favorable and memorable impact. Some categories that have been explained in detail include: punctuality, appearance, body language, introductions and potential questions. Being punctual shows your potential employer that you are not only dependable but can organize your time wisely. To accomplish this, you should map out the most convenient route to the interview location the day before. The day of the interview, you should allow yourself enough time to reflect or mentally prepare for the upcoming event after the drive to the location site. You should also arrive at the office lobby at least 10 minutes early (Johnston, 2015). Being late to or canceling an interview can hinder your professional success so avoid it at all costs. Should you find yourself being arriving late or needing to cancel your interview, acknowledge your mistake, express regret and don’t dwell on it (Cavazos, 2014). Your body language can say quite a bit about you than any words during an interview. To make sure that your body language leaves a lasting impression, do smile at everyone. Amy Chua, Yale Law School professor and author of â€Å"Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother†, begins her article by questioning and explaining the secret to the success commonly seen among children raised by Chinese mothers. Amy Chua’s opinion piece gives compelling, though fairly biased and subjective, insight into the parenting styles of Chinese mothers. Before delving into possible answers, Chua explains that she uses the terms â€Å"Chinese mother† and â€Å"Western parents† loosely to distinguish the cultural values and parenting styles. Chua then gets to her explanation as to why Chinese mothers raise such stereotypically successful children. Chua notes that â€Å"Chinese parents understand that nothing is fun until you’re good at it† (306),†¦show more content†¦As Lulu kicks and screams – and even rips up the music score – Chua threatens to take away lunch and dinner, then Christmas presents, then birthday parties. I had never dreamt of being so learned as that, and all my studies came to an end in the lowest form. I cant imagine what put that whim into their heads; but when I saw that they were resolved to force me to be a doctor, I made up my mind to be one at the expense of those I might have to do with. Yet you would hardly believe how the error has spread abroad, and how everyone is obstinately determined to see a great doctor in me. They come to fetch me from right and left; and if things go on in that fashion, I think I had better stick to physic all my life. I find it the best of trades; for, whether we are right or wrong, we are paid equally well. We are never responsible for the bad work, and we cut away as we please in the stuff we work on.
